When Rob Arnold, of Coventry Homes reached out to The point Group for help with this project, there was never a second thought. Long hours, endless changes, and many surprises came with the job; however, the only thing that was important was how the community really came together for the Terpenning family. We have been blessed to have met and worked with some truly amazing people during this build event.

In addition, I would like to thank our own, Jeff Rudolf, the extremecoventryhome.com web designer and the rest of the team at Eastpoint for their stellar efforts. The success of this extreme build exemplifies just how all the sponsors and volunteers gave this same level of commitment; and made this such an outstanding experience for me. While web site design and creation is only a small part of what we do at Eastpoint, we are proud to have been involved with the “Extreme Home Makeover” project.

The Eastpoint Group used JangoMail to communicate to volunteers involved in producing the Beavercreek, OH episode of Extreme Home Makeover. They needed a way to coordinate the efforts of all parties involved in this massive week-long project. Because of their great past experience with JangoMail, they asked us to help out.

Thanks to JangoMail, The Eastpoint Group was able to email daily project updates to 5,000 people without having to deal with the technical and spam filter issues that come with emailing a large list. The project was a huge success and we were proud to be involved!

84lumber
Since our founding in 1956, 84 Lumber has actively supported local, regional and national charitable organizations. When the call was made asking if we’d be interested in supporting a deserving family in Beavercreek, we immediately took on this gratifying and exhilarating project. Jake figured the lumber needed, Ron approved the donation, and Tonya made calls to our suppliers. They only had two questions: “What do you need, and how many?” The vendors that helped make the build possible are just as heroic as all the volunteers who sacrificed their time, energy, and resources. We’d like to recognize: Huttig Building Products, Andersen Windows, Component Structures, Forest Products, Rindler Truss, Awsco, Dayton Metals, Simpson Strong Tie, Moulding and Millwork, Palmer Donavin, and North Pacific for generously donating to the build. It warms the heart to see a network and a community come together for a great cause. We are all honored to be a part of this exciting and life changing event for the Terpennings. Sign us up for the next one!!

The Dayton Vineyard had a great time serving hundreds of people on the Reveal Day by getting people on an off the buses in a friendly and safe manner. We partnered with Walgreen’s and were able to give 82 cases of water and snack to the the Extreme Makeover onlookers and volunteer workers. When people arrived back we help them to leave the parking lot safely and by directing the traffic out of the parking lot quickly and safely. Our behind the scenes 10 hrs was more than fun and we had a blast interacting with grateful people who made a difference on the day. Thanks for allowing us to serve our community.

universal1
When Coventry Fine Homes called to ask us to be the monetary donation site for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Universal 1 Credit Union was thrilled. Within 4 hours everything was set up to begin taking donations! As a credit union we’re accustomed to accepting deposits…but we’re also committed to diving into community projects with both hands!

We assembled a group of ambitious Universal 1 volunteers who gave their own time…along with generous company time to pack the Terpenning home, carried and peeled labels off 14,000 bottled waters, moved rebar, sanded, mudded, painted, swept, you name it we did it!

But the day James Terpenning stopped by the Universal 1 booth at the Beavercreek Popcorn Festival was the best part of the EHM experience. He thanked us over and over and wanted to know everything that we did to help build their beautiful new home.

Universal 1 would like to thank Coventry Fine Homes for the wonderful opportunity with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Congratulations Terpenning Family!

Even though Wind Bender is primarily a heating and air company, I wanted to help out any way possible, something I’ve always wanted to do. I contacted the assigned heating & air company; they already had enough people lined up to help. So I called around and found the plumbing company that was doing the project. They accepted my offer to help.

My son and I worked with the rough in crew in the crawl space, the speed at which the piping went in was unbelievable, as was the pride and cooperation between the crew, most of which were working together for the 1st time.

During the 1st meeting at the church we were told to take a minute during our time on site to step back and look around at all that was going on. I was amazed at how everyone was working together like a fin tuned machine, even though for may this was there 1st experience building a house.

My son and I enjoyed the experience and would gladly do it again. Thank you for the opportunity to include us in this incredible project.

Functional Fabrics: I cannot say enough about the experience. Ideas for my business, ways to help others and something different for some of the volunteers. I donated several hundred of our 5 in 1 Ladder Tool Caddy to carpenters, roofers, electricians and finish people. We also gave Ty and all the designers on both builds that week one. The best part, I still have about 50 left and will give them to any sub or volunteer that requests one online. I have been in contact with EMHE about trying to offer them in big box stores and donating the profits to nonprofit projects and Home Assistance groups across the country. But this is only a dream idea to keep giving at this point.

The call came late on Tuesday evening two days before the reveal. An anxious producer asked us to come to the Terpenning build site because they really wanted a special “hose bench” for Shannon, and promised to explain when we arrived. Curious, we rushed down and were immediately paired up with Didiayer to concept and fabricate this custom bench for the garden. Didi and Ty wanted the project to incorporate the water hoses from Shannon’s old garden and also have a “green” element. That’s when we got the idea to recycle the leftover construction rebar into the bench. Didi asked if at all possible, could we fabricate a rustic metal birdbath as well. The crew was very friendly and we could tell they genuinely cared about creating something unique and thoughtful for the family. We left in awe of this impressive display of teamwork between the crew and volunteers working together despite rain, mud, and the undoubtedly long hours everyone was putting in. The entire crew and volunteers were positive with loads of energy. They inspired us to pull out all the stops for the Terpenning’s. Elegant Iron Studios is proud and thankful we could provide our custom metalworking services for this worthy project.
